Apparently not everyone is treated equally when it comes to DUI charges. Mayor Dean L. Armstrong was ordered to 60 days with an ankle monitor and a year of probation instead of having to spend any time in jail. After pleading guilty on Thursday to misdemeanor charges of impaired driving, having an open container in a vehicle and failing to stop at a stop sign.
The Utah Highway Patrol has said Armstrong was arrested Nov. 16 after he failed to stop at a sign at 100 W. Main in Price. Armstrong and his Utah DUI attorney could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday.
Last year, Armstrong told The Salt Lake Tribune he was going through “a difficult time” with the arrest, but said it was a “personal issue” with no connection to any government business in his town of about 2,000 people.
“I have the full support of the town council and the community at large,” Armstrong said. “We have a lot of work to do. I’m still here, and I intend to stay.”
